Last week Apple released its latest major operating system update iOS 14 which means iPhone users everywhere are about to get more smug than usual. If you’re one of those users then you may be wondering what this new operating system has in store for you. The answer is too much to mention but three of these features will help you be more productive and one of them is just cool:
Picture in Picture:
In what could arguably be the best feature since the home button, iOS 14 now allows you to watch a video AND do something else at the same time. It is perfect for those moments when you are busy watching a video on the internet and your boss asks you to send over a report. Now, without pausing a thing, you can shrink the picture, find the file and send it. Or even type and create reports while you watch Netflix. Go on show those boomers how good at multitasking Gen – Z can really be.
Compact Phone Calls:
It’s happened to all of us, that moment trying to do something urgent and your phone rings with an equally urgent call. What to do? Well now it is easier to do both. Previously the black screen would take over your phone and you would have to do a little bit of finger gymnastics to get your phone on board. All the while it sounds to the person on the other side of the call like you’re wrestling a hurricane. Now with compact calls, the green and red phones take up much less space on your phone allowing you to solve other equations with much more ease.
Siri:
Chances are you have a love hate relationship with Apple’s digital assistant. On the one hand she is very useful for those of us who hate having to scroll through contacts to call someone or generally try to avoid the admin of navigating through the million pages of apps on your phone to get to the one you want. The other side of the coin is that Siri is quite terrible at South African accents. Well According to Apple Siri is now 20x smarter so she’ll be able to help you get through your tasks a whole lot more efficiently. Well, she will once she stops trying to pronounce Phumla as “Fumla”.
For BMW Owners:
Just when you thought BMW drivers were smug enough iOS 14 will allow people with certain BMW models to open and start their cars, set speed limits, horsepower limits and maximum radio volume limits all from your phone. The function will only be available on models produced after July this year and even then not on all models.
